Citizen Exclusive Ride Code

In accordance with transit operator policies, a fee will be charged at the end of the bus route if you fail to scan your code upon disembarkation.

First, confirm that the information you entered is correct. Follow any error messages provided by the registration or login system. If the issue remains unresolved, please contact customer service via the “Customer Service Mailbox” on the Taichung Pass website, the “Contact Us” section on the Taichung Pass app, or call the service hotline at 04-2358-2755 (Weekdays, 09:00–18:00).

If you notice an incorrect charge while using the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code, immediately record the ride time, bus route, license plate number, and the transaction record from your electronic payment provider. Report the issue to the respective bus operator or electronic payment provider, who will then assist with the inquiry and refund process as necessary.

1. If the system displays a “duplicate member” message, it is recommended to log in to the Taichung Pass platform, delete the account that does not include your National ID number, and then log in with the retained account to proceed with the upgrade as instructed on screen.

2. If the above steps do not resolve your issue, please contact customer service via the「Customer Service Mailbox」on the Taichung Pass website, the "Contact Us" section on the Taichung Pass app, or call the customer service hotline at 04-2358-2755 (weekdays, 09:00–18:00).

Scanning issues may occur for the following reasons:

(1) Invalid Ride Code: The Citizen Exclusive Ride Code must be used within 2 minutes of being generated. If it times out, please generate a new code.

(2) QR Code Scan Failed at the Validator: 3. If the fare validation machine does not respond to the QR ride code, adjust the distance, position, or brightness of your mobile device in relation to the scanner (we recommend setting your phone screen to maximum brightness). If the validator still does not respond, please seek assistance from the staff on board.

If the vehicle’s equipment is malfunctioning or there is no validator, it will be handled in accordance with the policies of the respective transportation operator. When presenting the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code, please log in to the Taichung Go App and display the “Citizen Exclusive Ride Code” on your phone. After confirmation by service personnel, you will be allowed to enter/board or exit/disembark.

Yes. However, only one overdraft is allowed. For details, please refer to the regulations of each electronic payment provider.

There are two ways to access it in the Taichung Go App:

1. Go to [Personal Zone] and tap [Citizen Ride Code] to use it.

2. Tap the floating QR button directly on the app screen.

No. The Citizen Exclusive Ride Code is for personal use only. If unauthorized use is confirmed, it will be regarded as fare evasion or bypassing the validation process and will be handled according to the regulations of the public transportation operators.

No, the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code is for personal use only and may not be copied or transferred to others in any way; otherwise, it will be considered fare evasion, and passengers will be required to pay the fare difference or a penalty in accordance with the regulations of the respective transport operators.

No. The Citizen Exclusive Ride Code does not currently support the reward point feature of the Senior & Disability Card. If the ride exceeds 10 kilometers, the fare will be charged according to the standard bus fare policy.

No. The system will regularly verify eligibility for the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code. Once you no longer meet the criteria (e.g., no longer a student residing in Taichung), you will lose access to the Ride Code and its associated public transit benefits.

If you do not have a transport card, you must complete identity verification in person at one of the designated locations, such as the New City Government Service Center, the Transportation Bureau, district offices, household registration offices, or at one of the 18 designated MRT stations or 29 municipal libraries announced by the city government. No. Shortcuts created using electronic payment apps will only open the standard ride code. Since it is not the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code, you will not be eligible for the Taichung Double Ten Bus Discount.

There may be a few possible reasons:

(1) The Citizen Exclusive Ride Code must be accessed through the Taichung Go app in order to receive the Double Ten Bus Discount.If you open the ride code through an electronic payment provider’s app, you will be charged the standard fare.

(2) You may no longer meet the eligibility criteria for the Citizen Exclusive benefit—for example, if your household registration has been moved or you have graduated and are no longer a student. It is recommended to always check that your ride code displays “Taichung Citizen Exclusive Ride Code” to ensure you receive the Double Ten Bus Discount.

The ride code must be opened through the Taichung Go platform to qualify for the Double Ten Bus Discount. Only ride codes labeled “Taichung Citizen Exclusive Ride Code” are eligible for the discount.

If the issue is due to your personal device, please proceed with ticket purchase and boarding using the standard method. If your phone is out of battery, malfunctioning, or lost when you’re about to disembark, you may exit the bus first. The system will charge the fare at the end of the route according to the operator’s rules for passengers who do not follow the proper disembarkation procedure.

Yes, it can be used for regular boarding, but the Citizen Exclusive Double Ten Bus Discount will not apply outside of Taichung.

Currently, the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code is accepted on Taichung City buses, where you can enjoy the Double Ten Bus Discount. When using the Ride Code on the Taichung MRT, standard full fares apply—no half-price discounts are offered.

If you already have a bound Transport Card, no additional verification is required. If you do not have a bound Transport Card, you must complete identity verification in person. Each provider has its own application process. The general steps are:

1. Download the App: First, choose and download the electronic payment app you wish to use, such as Easy Wallet, iPASS MONEY, or icash Pay.

2. Register an Account: Open the app and follow the instructions to register.

3. Identity Verification: Complete the identity verification process as required by the app.

4. Link a Bank Account: After verification, link your personal bank account to complete the setup.

Only one electronic payment provider can be bound for use with the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code. To switch to a different provider, go to the [Personal Zone] section in the Taichung Go app, tap [Ride Code Binding], and select [Unbind]. After unbinding, you may choose and bind another provider.

No. The Ride Code requires integration with the standard QR code service provided by electronic payment providers. If you do not have an electronic payment account, you will not be able to use the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code.

Currently, only these three providers are supported for ride code binding. Additional providers may be included in future updates.

Go to the Apple App Store or Google Play, search for “Taichung Go”, download, and complete the installation. Tap the floating profile icon or go to [Personal Zone], then click the “Login” button and follow the on-screen instructions to register.

No. If you open the ride code directly from an electronic payment provider’s app, it will not be recognized as the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code, and you will not receive the Double Ten Bus Discount benefit.

The OTP verification code can be obtained through the following locations:

1. Push notification bar of your device

2. In the system notifications list under the bell icon in the icash Pay app.

To register through the Taichung Go App, you must be a Full-Function Member of the Taichung Pass.

Binding the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code involves several steps to ensure proper identity verification and security. The reasons are as follows:

  •  Identity Verification: To confirm that the applicant is a qualified citizen eligible for the transport card and to prevent misuse by ineligible individuals.
  •  Security: A multi-step verification process helps protect users from identity theft and fraud, safeguarding personal information and financial security.
  •  System Integration: Using this service requires coordination among multiple systems, such as the transport card system, payment systems, and the Taichung Go App, to ensure data consistency and proper functionality.
  •  User Convenience: Although there are three initial steps to set up, once completed, users can enjoy a more convenient transit experience without the need to carry a physical transport card.

Taichung Go membership is the same as Taichung Pass membership, so there is no need to register again. However, if you are not a Full-Function Member, you will need to follow the system instructions to upgrade your account.

Yes. Taichung Go registration uses third-party verification via Taichung Pass, and both platforms share the same member account.

There are three preparation steps before you can start using the Ride Code:

(1) Complete binding your Citizen Exclusive Transport Card or in-person identity verification.

(3) Download the Taichung Go App, register and log in, then complete payment provider binding to begin using the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code.

Yes. The Citizen Exclusive Ride Code includes a regular identity verification mechanism for Taichung residents. Therefore, if you lose eligibility for the Citizen Exclusive Transport Card, your access to the Ride Code will also be revoked.

To discourage younger students from excessive use of digital devices and to comply with electronic payment providers' restrictions on minors, the Ride Code is currently not available to citizens aged 6 to 12.

It is recommended that senior citizens continue using the Senior & Disability Card, as the Ride Code does not currently support the reward points offered by the Senior & Disability Card. If using the Ride Code for bus rides over 10 kilometers, the fare will be deducted according to the current fare structure. Additionally, when using the Ride Code on the MRT, the full fare will be charged.

Yes. The Citizen Exclusive Ride Code is a smart extension of the Citizen Exclusive Transport Card, offering an alternative and whole new fare payment experience.

Anyone who meets the eligibility for binding a Citizen Exclusive Transport Card may apply. This includes Taichung-registered citizens, foreign spouses of Taichung-registered citizens, students who are not registered in Taichung but are enrolled in schools, at the college level and below, within the city, and foreign nationals holding an Alien Permanent Resident Certificate (APRC) with a registered address in Taichung.

"Citizen Exclusive Ride Code" is an intelligent extension of the "Taichung Citizen Exclusive Transport Card.” It continues the original transport card benefits while offering a new mobile fare payment experience, allowing eligible citizens to enjoy public transit discounts directly via their smartphone.

To provide citizens with a more diverse and convenient fare payment experience using mobile devices, making it easier to access and use public transportation.

By binding your Taichung Go App with any one of the supported electronic payment providers—Easy Wallet, iPASS MONEY, or icash Pay—you can scan the ride code when boarding and alighting from Taichung City buses to enjoy the Citizen Exclusive Double Ten Bus Discount.

The Ride Code offers a more convenient way to ride—there is no need to carry a physical transport card. You can use your mobile device to scan the Citizen Exclusive Ride Code and still enjoy the Double Ten Bus Discount.

Yes. You may still complete in-person identity verification at a designated card-binding location without applying for a physical card. If you meet the eligibility requirements for the Citizen Exclusive Transport Card, you can use the Ride Code only, without the need for a physical card.

The Citizen Exclusive Ride Code must be accessed through the Taichung Go app in order to receive the Double Ten Bus Discount. Only QR codes displaying the “Citizen Exclusive” label are eligible for this benefit. If you use a regular ride code from an electronic payment provider directly, the system will charge you the full fare, and you will not receive the citizen exclusive Double Ten Bus Discount.
