Since its launch on July 1 last year, the Central Taiwan TPASS has been a hit due to its affordability and convenience, especially popular among Taichung residents. By the end of June this year, nearly 336,000 Central Taiwan TPASS had been sold. To expand purchase channels for city residents, the Transportation Bureau announced that starting today (16th), EasyCard will be available at FamilyMart stores to purchase the Central Taiwan TPASS Taichung Citizen Plan. Citizens with an EasyCard can now buy exclusive public transportation tickets for city residents at FamilyMart FamiPort kiosks💳.

       Director-General Yeh Chao-fu of the Transportation Bureau stated that for the convenience of purchasing the TPASS monthly pass, there are 29 district offices, 18 stations on the MRT Green Line, 23 railway stations, and two bus stations (Allday Bus Gancheng Station and Nantou Bus HSR Taichung Station) where tickets can be purchased nearby. Citizens using the Supercard can also download the EasyWallet app to top up and purchase via mobile phone. Additionally, at 29 district offices and 18 MRT stations, one-stop service is available, allowing Taichung citizens to bind their exclusive public transport card for discounts and then purchase the citizen-discounted TPASS plan easily.

     ""Renewing TPASS is now even more convenient!"" Yeh pointed out that starting today, Taichung citizens with an EasyCard can visit nearby FamilyMart stores to purchase TPASS plans at discounted prices. For long-term users, it's quick and easy to complete renewals at convenience stores, which operate year-round without time restrictions, making TPASS purchases even more convenient.

     Director-General Yeh further explained that since the launch of the TPASS monthly pass in Taichung, public transportation ridership has seen stable growth, particularly on the MRT and Taiwan Railways, with a notable increase of over 30%. With a TPASS in hand, you can travel on city buses, Taichung MRT, Taiwan Railways, and highway buses without worry, reducing the burden of commuting and school travel with seamless connections. Citizens are encouraged to make full use of this service.

      The Transportation Bureau reminds the public that after purchasing a TPASS, it must be activated within 30 days by using it on city buses, highway buses, Taichung MRT, or Taiwan Railways. Public bicycles currently do not offer activation functionality. When activating at MRT stations or Taiwan Railways stations, be sure to use the TPASS designated lanes to enter, to avoid incorrect fare deductions. Please be mindful of this.
